25th Anniversary of the Formation of The Royal Logistics Corps
The Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) is the largest Corps in the Army. It was formed on 5 April 1993 by the union of five units: Royal Corps of Transport, Royal Army Ordnance Corps, Royal Pioneer Corps, Army Catering Corps and Postal and Courier Service previously part of the Royal Engineers.
This year sees the 25th anniversary of The RLC and to mark this grand occasion BFPS has produced a commemorative cover to be published on the 5th April 2018.
The cover bears a colourful schematic image which provides an insight into the various roles that The RLC carries out. A Royal Mail 1st class stamp will be cancelled by the bespoke BFPS 3215 special handstamp.
Each of these covers will have an A4 information insert featuring the history of the RLC. Presented in a protective cellophane slip this makes a highly desirable memento of the Corps' anniversary.
There will be three versions available:
- Standard unsigned costing £6 each
- Limited edition signed by Colonel CJ Francis MBE ADC, Colonel RLC costing £12 each
- Limited edition signed by Warrant Officer One SWR Owen, Corps Sergeant Major costing £12 each
Both of these most special covers may be pre-ordered from the BFPS shop (www.bfps.org.uk/shop) from the 23rd March 2018.
It is expected that these covers will sell very well. News letters subscribers will be able to pre-order the covers before they are presented in the shop.
