24 Regiment The Royal Logistic Corps will disband on the 31ˢᵗ March 2014. A commemorative cover has been produced to celebrate this event.
For almost 50 years the regiment provided movement control for British Forces Germany based and overseas assignments. In more recent years, following restructuring, this has also included postal and courier support to all Germany based Forces personnel.
The covers each include the 1st class stamp “The King’s Troop Ceremonial Horses” issued by Royal Mail. The stamp has been cancelled by the unique “BFPS 3171 Disbandment of 24 Regiment RLC” special handstamp.
The two images on the left of the cover represent the Postal & Courier and the Movement Control aspects of the regiment. The Sparrenburg tower shown on the right is Bielefeld’s characteristic landmark. The wolf’s head is a logo used by the regiment.
The badges shown to the left and right of the cover title represent 24 Regiment and the town of Bielefeld respectively.
The cover comes complete with an information insert on 24 Regiment and a short history of Postal & Courier and Movement Control. The insert is contained in a cello sleeve to create a high quality souvenir to mark the event.
