The Forces Philatelic Bureau has produced a special cover to commemorate the “Declaration of War” 1914. This is in conjunction with the Imperial War Museum’s First World War Centenary Initiative.

This commemorative cover features one of the 1st Class stamps, “Private William Cecil Tickle”, from the set of special stamps issued by Royal Mail entitled ‘The Great War’. It will be cancelled by the BFPS 3177 special handstamp “Britain Declares War”.

The image on the cover is of a contemporary newspaper headline “Great Britain Declares War”, which has been used to highlight this historic event.

Included will be an information insert and along with the covers it will be presented in a cellophane sleeve to create a high quality souvenir to mark the event.
