With a trademark combination of close formations and precision flying, the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, The Red Arrows, has been displaying since 1965. One of the premier aerobatic teams in the world, they are the public face of the Royal Air Force and are ambassadors for the United Kingdom.
The Team’s opening season was in 1965. As is tradition, it is the number of display seasons being marked in 2014, rather than the Team’s anniversary or formation.
To mark this historic occasion BFPS has produced a special commemorative cover “The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team – 50 Seasons of Excellence”. This makes a great souvenir of this amazing achievement.
Each cover includes a red 1st Class stamp cancelled using the BFPS 3178 special handstamp depicting the Red Arrows 50 Display Seasons. The cover image is action-packed and shows the Red Arrows flying in formation. Included with the cover is an A4 information sheet giving more details about the Red Arrows. The insert is contained in a cellophane sleeve with the cover to create a high quality souvenir.
There are 3 versions of the cover:
Standard (not flown and unsigned) = £6
Flown unsigned – numbered limited edition of 200 = £12
Flown & signed by the 9 Red Arrows pilots – numbered limited edition of 100 = £24
