On the 28th June 1920 a Royal Warrant was signed by the Secretary of State for War, the Right Honourable Winston S Churchill, giving the sovereign’s approval for the formation of a ‘Corps of Signals’. Six weeks later, on the 5th August 1920 His Majesty the King conferred the title ‘Royal Corps of Signals’. A new Corps was born within the British Army.
This year marks the Centenary of the Corps and to celebrate this the BFPS, in conjunction with the Headquarters Royal Signals, has produced a commemorative cover to be published on the 28th June 2020.
This splendid cover bears an image group of the centenary logo flanked on either side by the first and current Corps cap badge. Underneath the main image sits the message “congratulations” in Morse code along with the Corps colours. A bespoke Royal Mail Smiler® stamp, showing the Corps Centenary Tactical Recognition Flash, will be cancelled by the BFPS uniquely numbered 3228 special handstamp with the Corps cap badge at its centre.
The covers and stamp sheets can also be ordered by post by sending a cheque (payable to ‘BFPS CIC’) to BFPS, The Old Post Office, Links Place, Elie, LEVEN, KY9 1AX.
