Description

A commemorative cover issued to raise funds for the rebuilding of the RAF Association Home at Sussexdown.

The cover artwork shows a flat map of Europe and South America with the route of the airbridge in red. A RAF Tristar is shown in the foreground. To the right are the emblems of the RAF, RAF Station Brize Norton, RAF Station Ascension Islands, RAF Station Mount Pleasant and 216 Squadron RAF.

The cover was flown in a Tristar C2 of no 216 Squadron from RAF Brize Norton to the Falkland Islands.

A 17ᵖ Falkland Islands commemorative stamp, showing a Lockheed Tristar flying over Gypsy cove has been cancelled by the Mount Pleasant Falkland Island counter date stamp.

The back of the cover bears the official stamps of the Officer Commanding No 216 Squadron, Station Commander RAF Brize Norton, Station Commander RAF Ascension Islands and the Commander British Forces Falkland Islands.
